This energetic shopping town, with a expansive variety of pubs, restaurants, accommodation and shopping stores is located on the impressive Avoca River. Arklow was one of the busiest ports in Ireland and a well known centre for boat building and sea fishing. A visit to the Arklow marine museum helps to reveal this important history. The town is an outstanding location from where one can discover the Vale of Avoca and the Wicklow Mountains, that are only a few kilometres west of the town. The glorious sand covered seashores of Brittas Bay and Clogga are well worth a visit. There are numerous events one can participate in when you visit Arklow - angling, golfing and swimming to say a few. |
