| The town, situated high on the western side of the beautiful Avonmore Valley, offers the tourist majestic views of the Avonmore River, which flows through the Vale of Clara. The town has been the location of films like Michael Collins, A Love Divided and Durango. Avondale House and Forest Park is set on 500 acres. Also west of the town is the wonderfully beautiful Glenmalure Valley, the valley is the longest glacier valley in Ireland and is ideal for walkers. The imposing Lugnaquilla Mountain, standing at 925m above sea level, overshadows the valley. | ||||
