The interior has been renovated and its distinctive architecture and character are generally pretty well preserved. The drawing room and dining room are very attractive rooms, with a fabulous original nineteenth century decoration, wonderfully restored. All guest rooms contain a big sitting area, writing desk, phone, TV, tea coffee making conveniences and with private bathroom bathroom. The bistro positioned in the Castle courtyard is run independently and has a wine license. At Smarmore you benefit from an unusual blend of a family run bed and breakfast in a rambling historical home, a leisure centre and a bistro - three quite seperate entities, yet all under the same roof. From Ardee continue 3 Kilometer in the direction of Dublin on the N2 until you pass the Travellers Rest pub. Take the next right turn. Follow signs for 3km.
