My son (age 16) and I stayed at the Suan Tra cottages for the St.Patricks weekend. We both agree that it was one of the best breaks we ever had! The location was absolutely stunning - right on the coast with breath-taking views of the sea, The Three Sisters and the Brandon group mountains. The cottage itself was perfect for what we wanted. Really cosy sitting room area with comfy seating, kitchen was spacious and fully kitted out. Outside there was a picnic table which would be fantastic in warmer weather - I could imagine sitting out there enjoying the spectacular scenery as the sun went down! We were made to feel completely welcome from start to finish. Thank you Phil for looking after us so well and being so helpful. The main purpose of our visit was to climb Brandon Mountain (953 m, 3123 ft high). It was an incredible experience, not to be under-taken without the proper gear, but well worth the effort! It was a lovely sunny day when we started the climb but at the top it was well below zero with a foot of snow!!! For those looking for something less strenuous there are amazing walking trails right by the cottage, that wrap around the coast and will have you reaching for your camera every two minutes! The village of Ballyferriter is only 5 minutes drive away and the town of Dingle is only 15 minutes drive from the cottage and has EVERYTHING you could wish for in an Irish town. The food (especially seafood) is to die for, and you can't leave without trying the award-winning ice-cream at Murphy's and the award-winning fresh fish and chips on Bridge Street (can't remember the name, ask anyone and they will help you). It is an area of the world where there is so much to see and do we will definitely have to come back and stay for much longer this time. We won't hesitate to book the same cottage again, the location was absolutely perfect.
